 Comments

The Mayfair English (and Anglo) concertinas were launched by Wheatstone as beginners' instruments to satisfy the demand created by the 'folk-revival' of the mid-1950s. They were produced from 1955 until 1960 using accordion reeds, chrome plated metal ends and plastic buttons. Although the build quality and sound are not comparable with much more costly, antique instruments they are considerably better than current, cheap Chinese, Italian and German instruments. This particular example is in good, playable condition.
